CloudEx Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the "Detox Pro" app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By using the Service, you are deemed to have agreed to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Our Core Principle
Detox Pro is a digital detox app that stops the apps you choose — social media, video, games and other apps that keep pulling you in. You decide when they are blocked: rules by time of day and day of the week, a daily usage-time limit and a daily open limit (Premium), Block now, and timed focus sessions. A stopped app is sent back to the home screen, and a screen tells you why. The statistics show each app's usage time, opens and blocks.
Finding out which app is in front and deciding whether to stop it are performed entirely on your device. Your usage records — which apps you used, for how long, and how often they were stopped — stay on your device and are never sent to us. We also do not record, store, or transmit any of the following:
- The contents shown on your screen
- The contents of other apps, or your messages
- Your browsing history or the contents of your communications
Detox Pro is free to install. Its Premium features are unlocked by a single one-time in-app purchase through Google Play; there is no subscription. No account registration is required, and the app shows no ads.
2. Your Usage Records and How Blocking Works
To apply your rules and limits and to show your statistics, Detox Pro uses Android's usage access to find out which app is in front, and counts the following for each app and each day:
- How long the app was used
- How many times it was opened
- How many times it was stopped
Usage is recorded only while the monitoring runs — that is, while blocking is on or a quick block or focus session is active. These records are kept in a database on your device. Records older than 90 days are deleted automatically, and you can erase all of them at any time with "Clear stats" in the app's Settings. The CSV export (Premium) hands the file over only when you choose a destination in the share sheet, and only to that destination.
When an app is stopped, Detox Pro returns you to the home screen and shows its own screen explaining why. That screen is drawn by Detox Pro; it does not read what the stopped app was showing.
Detox Pro does not use Android's accessibility service (AccessibilityService API).
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information Collected Automatically
- Anonymous crash reports: Via Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes, we collect the stack trace, device model, OS version, and app version. Your usage records, your block rules and the apps you have chosen are not included. You can turn this off with "Send crash reports" in the app's Settings.
- App usage statistics: Via Google Analytics for Firebase. We collect anonymous app usage events (such as the app being opened for the first time, or an in-app review request being shown) together with device information and the device's advertising ID (AAID). We use this data to understand aggregate app usage and to measure the effectiveness of our own advertising campaigns (counting app installs that resulted from an ad). It is never used to display ads in the app. These events do not include your usage records, your block rules or the apps you have chosen.
- Purchase information: We use the purchase token issued by Google Play to verify your Premium purchase. We never receive any payment information such as credit card numbers.
3.2 Information Stored Only on Your Device
- Usage records: Each app's usage time, opens and blocks, per day (see Section 2). Records older than 90 days are deleted automatically.
- Rules and settings: Your schedules and limits, the apps you have chosen, the sets of apps you save as presets, the PIN used to unlock a block, and your other settings.
None of this is sent to us. It is erased from your device when you uninstall the app or clear the app's data.
3.3 Android Backup
If backup is turned on for your device (Google's backup service), your rules and settings (including saved presets and the unlock PIN) and your usage records are included in Android's backup and are stored by Google as a backup of your Google account. The same data also moves with you when you switch to a new device using Android's device-to-device transfer. We cannot access the contents of these backups.
Your Premium purchase status is not included in the backup. On a new device, Premium is restored once the app confirms your purchase with Google Play.
3.4 Information We Explicitly Do Not Collect
- The contents displayed on your screen
- The contents of other apps, or your messages
- A history of the websites you visit or the contents of your communications
- Location information
- Phone number, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
3.5 Permissions the App Requests and Their Purposes
Stopping apps requires several OS permissions. Detox Pro uses them only for the stated purposes:
- Usage access (PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS) — Used to find out which app is in front, and to count each app's usage time and opens for your rules, limits and statistics. This information is used on your device only and is never transmitted.
- Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — Used to show the block screen, which tells you why an app was stopped and offers the unlock options. On Android 10 and later, Android also requires this permission for the app to take you from a stopped app back to the home screen. It does not read any screen content.
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS, Android 13+) — Used for the ongoing notification shown while the app is watching which app is in front; Android requires it for a foreground service.
- Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE) — Used to keep watching which app is in front while blocking is on or a session is running.
- Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — Used to resume watching after the device restarts or the app is updated, if you had it turned on.
- Visibility of installed apps — Limited to apps that can be opened from the launcher and to home-screen apps. Used to list the apps you can choose from and to show their names and icons. Detox Pro does not use QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES, and the list is never transmitted.
- Internet — Used for purchases, crash reporting, analytics, fetching the list of our other apps, and Google Play's in-app review requests and update checks.
Detox Pro does not use an accessibility service.
4. How We Use Information
The limited information we collect is used only for the following purposes:
- Operating and maintaining the Service
- Verifying your Premium purchase
- Understanding aggregate app usage and improving the app (analytics)
- Measuring the effectiveness of our own advertising campaigns (install conversion measurement)
- Diagnosing and fixing crashes
- Responding to support inquiries
- Complying with applicable laws
5. Third-Party Services
Detox Pro uses the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — anonymous crash diagnostic data; can be turned off in the app's Settings
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC) — anonymous app usage statistics and measurement of our own ad campaigns (install conversions)
- Google Play Billing — payment for Premium is completed on the store platform side
- Google Play In-App Review and In-App Updates (Google LLC) — asking you for a rating and letting you know about updates
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) — delivery of the in-app list of our other apps (a JSON file and icon images). When the list is fetched, Cloudflare receives the usual connection information, such as your IP address; the app sends no personal information with the request.
Detox Pro does not display ads within the app and does not share your data with advertising networks in order to show you ads.
6. Data Retention
- Crash reports: retained for 90 days, then deleted.
- Analytics data: retained by Google Analytics for up to 14 months, then deleted.
- Data stored on your device: kept until you uninstall the app or clear the app's data. Usage records older than 90 days are deleted automatically, and you can erase them at any time with "Clear stats".
- The copy in your Android backup (Section 3.3): handled by Google under your Google account's backup settings.
7. International Data Transfers
We are based in Japan. The infrastructure used for crash diagnostics, analytics, and delivering the list of our other apps may be located in various countries. When you use the Service, the minimal information described above may be processed outside your country of residence under standard contractual safeguards.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you reside (e.g., the EEA, UK, California, Japan), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the limited information we hold. You can:
- Reset or delete your device's advertising ID in your device settings (under "Ads"; where it is depends on your device and Android version)
- Stop sending crash reports by turning off "Send crash reports" in the app's Settings
- Erase your usage records with "Clear stats" in the app's Settings
- Turn off backup in your device settings if you do not want your rules and usage records included in Android's backup
- Uninstall the app or clear the app's data to erase the data on your device
- Contact us at the address below to make a request regarding the information we hold
9. Children's Privacy
